The moving tide of generational gaps is a hindrance to transferring tacit knowledge. The workforce is projected to be 75% Millennials in 2025; with or without them having received a transfer of tacit knowledge. Generational gaps are key players in hindering the transfer of tacit knowledge. Why? Because of cohort differences that are, perceived or actual. The research states that 50% of the younger employees are dismissive of the competencies of the older generations, and 70% of the older generation is dismissive to the younger employees. The generational gaps are fueled by differing communication styles, differing preferences, and so on.
