Employees vs Contractors


Heavily relying on contractors for key positions instead of employees makes an organizations proprietary tacit knowledge fluid and sometimes not accessible to employees. For example, contractors are free to go at the end of their assignment or contractors on a project can be reassigned to other “projects with other companies” including your competitors. When that happens an organization’s proprietary tacit knowledge just walks out the door.
